The Gender Ministry has announced that there was a total of 241 cases submitted to the ministry in June and out of them125 cases involved children.
The number of cases involving children amounted fo,r up to 52 percent. While most of the cases involved neglect, there 41 such cases reported to the ministry in June. Other than these, 23 cases of sexual abuse, 18 cases of psychological abuse, four cases of bullying and two cases of bullying through the internet and one case of exposure to domestic violence were reported.
A total of 67 cases involving girls and 58 cases involving boys were reported. Deprivation of rights included cases of failure to provide a home, deprivation from education, deprivation from vaccines and deprivation from medical aid. 18 family issues were reported to the ministry and included 10 cases of preventing contact between the family and three cases of failure to provide finances.
Three cases of children involved in crimes were reported including one case of driving a vehicle without a license and one of gang violence. 19 cases involving behavioral issues were reported while the number of cases involving fleeing from home and refusal to attend school numbered five.
36 cases of abuse due to gender were submitted to the ministry and 20 cases involved physical harm. Sexual abuse cases numbered six while psychological and verbal abuse cases numbered five. There were also 17 cases of neglect to the elderly that were reported, along with 15 cases of self-harm that was reported to the ministry.
