Higher Education Ministry says it received over 900 student loan applications since the opportunity was re-opened two weeks ago.
The deadline for student loan application closes this Monday.
A senior Higher Education Ministry official reported to ‘Sun’ that the ministry received 900 applications by end of Sunday alone.
The student loan scheme, with 586 spots, was originally announced in March. However, only 79 applications were accepted, and Higher Education Ministry later announced that the low acceptance rate was due to a large number of applicants failing to submit the applications in accordance with the preset policy for submission of applications.
Higher Education Ministry re-opened the student loan scheme, with 163 spots, on June 12.
The opportunity was re-opened after revisions to the loan policy to allow students to apply for educational opportunities at a country of their own choosing.
