Hisaan approved as new parliamentary representative at JSC

The Parliament, this Wednesday afternoon, voted in approval of appointing Thulhaadhoo MP Hisaan Hussain as the parliamentary representative at Judicial Service Commission (JSC).

Hisaan was approved as the new parliamentary representative at JSC with the unanimous consensus of 81 parliamentarians.

Hisaan is one of the country’s leading legal attorneys. She previously served at the Attorney General’s Office, and as Legal Secretary of the President during President Mohamed Nasheed’s presidency before going into private practice.

She has often gone head to head with Maldivian judges and judicial institutions such as JSC and is a strong advocate for judicial reform.

Speaker of Parliament, President Mohamed Nasheed – another advocate for judicial reform – was sworn-in to JSC last Tuesday night.
