Japanese government has granted Maldives Police Service with assistance of USD 2 million in a ceremony held in Republic Square last Monday.
The Japanese Government provided Maldives Police Service with vessels, vehicles and other resources which can be used in their operations and patrols.
Speaking in the ceremony, Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid stated that the grants and aids provided by the Japanese government shows the sincere efforts of the Japanese Government to improve the public security of the Maldives.
While speaking in the same ceremony, Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed stated that the vessels and vehicles provided by the Japanese Government would be distributed evenly among the areas of Maldives. He said that they would especially used in time of danger.
Japanese Ambassador Ms. Keiko Yanai in her speech during the ceremony, said that she hopes to see the goods provided by the Japanese Government would be put to good use to provide public safety in Maldives.
