Current member of Elections Commission, Ismail Habeeb, who has applied for a second term at the commission, is the candidate awarded the highest marks by Independent Institution Committee of the Parliament – charged with evaluating the 16 candidates who applied for the post.
The report compiled by the committee following its evaluations puts Habeeb at the top of the list with 90.28 percent marks.
The second highest marks were awarded to Ahmed Moosa with 75.57 percent marks.
Application for membership at EC was opened as Habeeb near to the end of his five-year term.
Elections Commission has five members, all of whom are evaluated by the Independent Institutions Committee, and selected via a general vote at the Parliament.
The Parliament is scheduled to take a vote on the appointed this Tuesday afternoon.
