Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has introduced a travel card for school students for its ferry service between Male’ City and Vilimale’.

Assistant General Manager of MTCC’s Service Department, Mohamed Nazim reports the student travel card will be implemented on March 1.

“The purpose of introducing the card is to assess the number of students we can provide this service to. Students can still use the travel card introduced before. But lack of proper management of records means we are unable to find out the exact number of students the service is used by,” said Nazim.

Nazim reports the student travel card will also be introduced for its ferry services between Male’ City and Hulhumale’.

“We are working on using a uniform card for our services – both to Vilimale’ and Hulhumale’, and the bus as well,” said Nazim, announcing the decision by MTCC to introduce new electronic travel cards.

MTCC advises students who use its ferry services to apply for the travel card by end of this February.
