President of B. Kamadhoo Council, Ahmed Sameer has been detained by the authorities for failure to show up at court for his ongoing drug case.

A local from Kamadhoo who spoke to ‘Sun’ reports Sameer was arrested from Kamadhoo in an operation by the B. Eydhafushi Police Station at sunset last Friday.

“He had also been arrested on drug charges two times before,” reported the local.

‘Sun’ has been informed Sameer was arrested by the police after he failed to show up to court for his drug case despite summons by the court on two occasions.

The police were later ordered to present Sameer to court under their custody.

Sameer was also arrested on a drug charge in August, 2018, but was seen actively campaigning for the presidential elections held in September.
