2nd individual quarantined in Kamadhoo test positive for COVID-19

A second individual in home-quarantine on the island of B. Kamadhoo has tested positive for COVID-19.

A Council member of Kamadhoo said to Sun that the individual was a middle-aged local male. The individual tested positive from tests conducted upon completion of the 14-day quarantine.

A prior case of an individual in quarantine testing positive from the island was reported on July 30.

“The two positive individuals, their families, and islanders are all very cooperative. Both are doing well. We are also strengthening measures and monitoring the island.” Said the Councilor.

Two houses on the island are quarantined right now, and the Councilor added that the latest positive case was living alone.

Cases of individuals in quarantine testing positive have been reported in different islands previously. Two cases of COVID-19 from individuals in quarantine in Addu City were identified in the last 24 hours. The Hithadhoo ward of the city has now been placed under monitoring mechanisms as a result.

An individual transported to Male’ from Mahibadhoo also tested positive today. Maldives has confirmed 4,898 cases COVID-19 so far. There are currently 2,088 active cases.
