Income from import/export increases by 14 percent in Jan

Maldives Customs Service has announced a 14.39 percent increase in its revenue from import/export in the month of January, 2019, compared to the same duration in 2018.

Statistics released by Customs show the agency received a revenue of MVR 306.6 million from import/export in January, 2019.

The figure is a 14.39 percent improvement compared to the MVR 268 million received as import/export revenue in January, 2018.

Customs also recorded a six percent increase in value of imports during January with MVR 4 billion compared to the MVR 3.8 billion in January of 2018.

Meanwhile, the value of exports during January dropped by 28 percent with MVR 342.6 million compared to the MVR 473.2 million recorded in January of 2018.
