Moosa Zameer summoned for questioning in connection with MMPRC case

Deputy Leader of Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) and former Minister of Tourism, Moosa Zameer has been summoned by police for questioning in connection with the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) embezzlement scandal.

Secretary-General of PPM, Mohamed Hussain Shareef (Mundhu) has confirmed Zameer has been served a summons for 4 pm this Wednesday.

 

The MMPRC case was the largest embezzlement scandal to hit Maldives in recent history.

Investigators have identified at least USD 1.22 billion has gone missing in the case.

Former Vice President and Minister of Tourism, Ahmed Adeeb Abdul Gafoor and former MD of MMPRC Abdulla Ziyath have been sentenced to prison for their involvement in the case.

Adeeb was succeed by Moosa Zameer.
