Minister of Economic Development, Fayyaz Ismail has advised President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih to establish a Minimum Wage Board.
Fayyaz said in a tweet last Wednesday that the Board will be established under Employment Act, and will be responsible for advising him on establishing a minimum wage in Maldives.
Establishing a minimum wage is one of the new administrations’ First 100-day Pledges.
The Econ Minister expressed hope for a “robust engagement with industry and workers to reach a fair and sensible outcome.”
