Pres. Muizzu congratulates BNP on winning Bangladesh election

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, on Friday, extended his congratulations to the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) following its success in the parliamentary elections, expressing his eagerness to collaborate closely in strengthening and expanding the long-standing friendship and cooperation between the Maldives and Bangladesh.

The President, via a post on X, extended his congratulations to party leader Tarique Rahman on the party’s electoral success. 

 

He expressed eagerness to collaborate closely in strengthening and expanding the long-standing friendship and cooperation between the Maldives and Bangladesh, adding he is confident that the bilateral relationship will continue to expand in depth and breadth in the years to come.

According to reports from Bangladeshi media, provisional results show that the Bangladesh Nationalist Party and its alliance partners have achieved a two-thirds majority in parliament, capturing 211 of the 300 seats. Their nearest competitor, Jamaat-e-Islami, won 70 seats, while other political parties together secured six seats.
