Zakat House has announced the hours for accepting Fitr Zakat during this year’s Ramadan.
According to the announcement, Fitr Zakat payments will be accepted online from the first day of Ramadan until 06:00 hrs on the 27th of Ramadan.
During Ramadan, Fitr Zakat can be paid online through seven platforms:
Dhiraagu’s DhiraaguPay
Ooredoo m-Faisaa
Maldives Islamic Bank’s FaisaMobile app and website
BML mobile app and website
FahiPay mobile app and website
Avas App
Ministry of Finance’s Bandeyri Portal
Zakat House said arrangements have also been made for those unable to pay online, including the elderly, to pay in person at the Islamic Centre in Male'. In‑person acceptance will be available on non‑official holidays from the 5th to the 20th of Ramadan (February 22 to March 9), from 10:00 to 13:00 hrs. From the 21st to the 30th of Ramadan (March 10 to March 19), Zakat will be accepted from 11:00 to 14:00 hrs.
In the atolls, local councils will arrange the acceptance of Zakat in cash.
Fitr Zakat is obligatory upon every Muslim and is paid based on the staple food they consume. Its amount is equivalent to one sa’, traditionally measured as two cupped handfuls.
