Inmates and guards at the Asseyri Prison in K. Himmafushi have built over 100 desks for students at the Himmafushi School.
According to a statement released on Sunday by Maldives Correctional Service, inmates and guards built total 130 desks in time for the new academic year that began in late January.
The Correctional Service said the desks were built free of charge as an initiative to help the community.
Most of the materials for the desks were provided by Himmafushi School.
