Two people have been arrested from Male’ on suspicion of recruiting a teenage boy to deliver drugs.
The two were arrested from the greater Male’ area on Sunday in a joint operation by Family and Child Protection, Drug Enforcement, and Counter-Narcotics Intelligence.
They were identified by police as:
According to the police, the duo is suspected of exploiting a 16-year-old boy and recruiting him to deliver drugs and engage in crime.
They were both remanded in police custody for 15 days.
The police said that they are making it a special priority to investigate individuals who groom children and take advantage of their vulnerability to involve them drug-related crimes, gang crime, and acts of sexual abuse.
The police said they are working on identifying such individuals, and working with other relevant agencies to ensure they are punished to the full extent of the law.
