Avas Enterprises and Maldives Zakat House have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to allow the public to pay Fitr Zakat through Avas’ digital platforms.
The MoU was signed at a ceremony held at the Islamic Ministry. Zakat House Fund Manager Abdullah Ali signed on behalf of Maldives Zakat House, while Managing Director Mohamed Yaniu Rameez signed on behalf of Avas Enterprises.
Zakat House said the partnership is an important step in expanding digital payment channels for Zakat payers across the country.
Under the agreement, Zakat House will begin accepting Fitr Zakat through Avas’ online platforms starting this Ramadan.

The agency noted that no additional fees will be charged when paying Zakat through Avas platforms. Avas Enterprises will also not charge any fee for transferring the collected Zakat funds to Maldives Zakat House.
“The purpose is to ensure that the money paid by the payers is fully distributed to the recipients,” Zakat House said.
The agency added that the initiative is part of its broader efforts to digitize Zakat services and make them easier, faster and more transparent for the public. Zakat House aims to modernize the collection and distribution of Zakat in line with Shariah principles while maintaining public trust.
There are already several platforms that allow online Zakat payments, and the addition of Avas is expected to further expand access for payers nationwide.
