The Zakat House also announced an increase in the nisab (minimum threshold) for property zakat on December 21, 2025. The new rate is MVR 19,527.90, up from MVR 11,191.95 five months earlier, an increase of MVR 8,335.95. This is the highest nisab ever set in the Maldives.
The zakat threshold is determined based on the market price of silver, and fluctuations in silver prices directly affect the payable amount.
The law mandating the payment of property zakat came into force this year.
