Transport Minister Mohamed Ameen said on Monday that he receives requests from a lot of parliamentarians asking to have their vehicles registered illegally.
Ameen, who was summoned to the Parliament in the morning, was questioned regarding illegal registration of vehicles. Ameen responded that the government is fulfilling its legal responsibilities, and that there is no longer room registration of vehicles and vessels unless through legal means.
He added that a lot of parliamentarians continue to personally request him to have their vehicles registered illegally.
“Even a lot of you request me, but I keep saying ‘no’,” he said, without naming any names.
Ameen that the changes to rules and regulations implemented by the incumbent administration have been effective.
