Teacher accused of sexually abusing child during tuition, remanded for 30 days

A 46-year-old man arrested in Hulhumale' on Tuesday evening for allegedly sexually abusing a minor has been remanded in custody for 30 days.

Police said the man is accused of abusing a 13-year-old girl during a private tutoring session. He was presented before the court on Wednesday, which ordered his remand for 30 days pending investigation.

Sun has learned that the suspect is a chemistry teacher at a school in Male' City. The incident reportedly occurred while he was visiting the victim’s home for tuition.

Due to the sensitivity of the case, police have not disclosed the suspect’s full identity, in line with standard procedure for child sexual abuse investigations.

Police confirmed that the investigation is ongoing.
