The People’s National Front (PNF), founded by former President Abdulla Yameen, has announced that nominations for permanent party positions are now open.
Applications will be accepted until 18:00 on Thursday. According to the party’s announcement, elections will be held for the posts of president, two vice-presidents, secretary-general, registrar, treasurer, and 14 senators.
The elections are scheduled to take place during the party’s inaugural national assembly on October 30. Yameen formed the PNF less than a week after the PNC-led coalition came to power, resigning from his leadership role in the coalition and initiating the registration of a new party. The PNF was officially registered on March 25, 2024.
Since its formation, Yameen has been actively involved in party activities, holding regular meetings at the PNF office twice a week. These sessions have included sharp criticism of the current government’s policies and decisions.
