The Kumundhoo Council in Haa Dhaalu Atoll has called on victims of the cargo ship Nasr, which sank Thursday evening, to submit details of their losses as part of a compensation process.

The Nasr sank 3.3 nautical miles south of Alhigaa while en route from Male' to Naifaru. All five crew members were rescued by the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) before the vessel went down.

The council is compiling a report to identify financial losses suffered by Kumundhoo residents and businesses linked to the Neykurendhoo-registered ship. Affected individuals are asked to submit their name, ID card number, and the estimated value of belongings lost onboard via an online form. The deadline for submissions is Monday.

The report will be shared with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), which will coordinate compensation.

The incident occurred amid worsening southwest monsoon conditions. In a separate tragedy early Thursday, the 100-foot landing craft Almaak Fiya capsized near K. Thulhaagiri while traveling from Male' to K. Eriyadhoo. Of the seven crew members aboard, four were rescued. Two of the three initially missing sailors have been confirmed dead, including Ahmed Shifan, 38, of GA. Dhaandhoo. The third missing crew member is a foreign national.
