Ooredoo Maldives has announced plans to launch PayPal services in 2026, marking a major milestone in the country’s digital transformation and expanding access to international financial transactions for individuals and businesses.

The company confirmed that it is in the final stages of partnership negotiations with PayPal, aiming to integrate the global payment platform with Ooredoo Fintech’s m-Faisaa service. Once launched, Maldivian users will be able to link their PayPal and m-Faisaa wallets, enabling seamless cross-border transactions and global e-commerce participation.

“With the partnership between Ooredoo Fintech and PayPal, the linking of PayPal wallets with m-Faisaa wallets is a huge opportunity and advancement for businesses and individuals,” said Khalid Al Hamadi, CEO and Managing Director of Ooredoo Fintech Maldives.

The service is expected to benefit freelancers, entrepreneurs, and SMEs, allowing them to transact with international clients and access global markets more easily. It also supports the government’s pledge to introduce modern payment systems and strengthen the Maldives’ position in the global digital economy.

“The combination of Ooredoo Fintech and PayPal to connect PayPal Wallet and m-Faisaa Wallet is a huge step forward for Maldives,” said Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed, adding that the initiative will create “new and better opportunities” for Maldivians to do business worldwide.

Ooredoo emphasized that the launch of PayPal is a key step in the Maldives’ journey toward becoming a digitally empowered economy, aligning with national goals to promote financial inclusion, innovation, and productivity.
