President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has renamed TradeNet Maldives Corporation Limited to Maldives Innovation and Digital Company Limited, in line with the government's digital transformation agenda.

Established in 2019 as a government-owned entity, TradeNet was originally tasked with providing business-related services through a single-window system in Maldives. The renaming, formalized by presidential decree on Thursday, reflects the company’s evolving role as the government’s lead technology and innovation arm under the Maldives 2.0 Roadmap 2025–2028: Journey to Digital Transformation.

The President emphasized that the company’s corporate identity must align with its mandate to drive digital transformation and serve as a key partner in implementing the Maldives 2.0 vision. The roadmap includes initiatives to enhance public service delivery, improve transparency, and foster citizen-centric digital platforms.

TradeNet is currently collaborating with various ministries and councils to roll out digital services. It leads implementation of Pillar 6 of the Maldives 2.0 framework, which focuses on citizen-friendly and business-accessible digital public services.

President Muizzu has previously stated that one of the core goals of digitalization is to eliminate corruption. To oversee progress, a Digital Transformation Council chaired directly by the President was established last month.
