Trailer truck crashes into highway’s road divider, causing traffic jam

A large trailer struck crashed into the road divider at the Hulhumale’ Highway on Sunday, causing a traffic jam during the morning rush hour as people commuted between Male’ and Hulhumale’ for work.

According to police, the trailer truck was headed from Hulhumale’ to Male’ when it crashed into the road divider. The accident was reported to the police at around 07:53 am.

While it did not result in any injuries, it caused a traffic jam on the highway with one lane partially closed until the truck could be moved away.

Videos being shared on social media show part of the road divider got dislodged in the accident. It also shows workers from Rotime Engineering and Technology Co (RETC), a construction company, assisting the police in clearing the site.

The accident is under further investigation by the police.
