Man and woman injured in accident on Hulhumale’ highway

A motorcycle and pickup collided in an accident on the Hulhumale’ Highway on Saturday, leaving two people – a man and a woman – injured.

The accident, which took place at the end of the four lanes directing traffic from Male’ to Hulhumale’, was reported to police at around 09:00 am.

According to the police, the accident resulted in injuries to the two people on the motorcycle – a 28-year-old Maldivian man who was driving the vehicle and the 22-year-old Indian woman in the passenger seat.

The driver dislocated his right shoulder and sustained various other injuries, while the passenger also sustained varying degrees of injuries.

They were both rushed to the Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH), where they remain under treatment.

The accident is under investigation by the police.
