President Muizzu hails China as key ally for equality

China is a steadfast partner of the Maldives in amplifying its voice on sustainability and equality in the international arena, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu said on Tuesday.

A banquet was held in Male' to mark the 76th anniversary of China’s National Day and the Mid-Autumn Festival.

At the ceremony, the President extended his best wishes and congratulations to Chinese President Xi Jinping, the government, and the people of China on the occasion of their National Day.

He also highlighted the enduring relationship between the Maldives and China, noting that its strength lies not only in formal agreements but also in shared experiences, mutual travel, and the trust built over time.

In the Maldives, the friendship between the two nations is reflected in the bridges that connect islands, the homes that shelter families, and the classrooms where Maldivian students learn, he said.

The President reiterated that China remains a steadfast partner in championing sustainability and equality on the global stage.

He added that Chinese tourists visiting the Maldives have helped transform the tourism industry into a vibrant bridge symbolizing the bilateral relationship.

The President emphasized China’s commitment to multilateral cooperation and its advocacy for the interests of developing nations. He expressed appreciation for China’s joint efforts with the Maldives to build a world where no country, regardless of size, is left behind.

He concluded by expressing hope for further strengthening bilateral ties in politics, education, and trade, and for continued collaboration toward shared goals.

China is a country with which the current administration maintains close relations. President Muizzu has made two official visits to China over the past two years.
