MVR 52M disbursed for disabled, 107 new registrations in August

In August, MVR 52.7 million was disbursed in financial assistance to persons with disabilities, while the national disability register saw an addition of 107 individuals during the same period, according to recently released statistics.

Data from the National Social Protection Agency (NSPA) on Sunday indicates that as of August, the total number of persons on the disability register reached 14,673. This marks an increase from the 14,566 individuals recorded on the register as of July this year.

The current breakdown of the register shows 6,143 women and 8,530 men. Notably, 4,916 children under the age of 18 are included in these figures.

Of those newly registered for the Disability Allowance in August, 38 are children under 18, 51 individuals are between the ages of 18 and 64, and 18 persons are over the age of 65.

According to the latest financial data from the Finance Ministry, the NSPA had expended MVR 2.09 billion as of September 4. This figure represents 53.2 percent of the MVR 3.93 billion allocated to the agency in this year’s state budget.
