The government has mandated that effective Sunday, certain import and export-related services will be exclusively accessible through Tradian, a centralized digital platform.

Tradian, launched on September 3 last year, serves as a comprehensive hub for importers and exporters. This initiative is a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Economic Affairs and TradeNet Maldives, a state-owned enterprise specializing in digital solutions for public services and trade processes.

The Economic Ministry stated that this move represents a significant stride towards "simplifying and modernizing trade processes."

Initially, Tradian's services were offered across various platforms. However, a select group of these services will now be solely available via Tradian. These include:

  • Vessel registration

  • Vessel estimated time of arrival/departure

  • Manifest submission

  • Selected import and export permits & licenses

According to the Economic Ministry, Tradian requires user registration for access.

  • Ministry of Tourism – Duty exemption

The Economic Ministry confirmed that the second phase of the system commenced in late October of last year.
