Man jailed for attacking wife’s lover

A man has been sentenced to one month in prison for attacking a person who was allegedly having an affair with his wife.

The Criminal Court issued the sentence against the man, who is native to an island to the north of Male’, on September 2.

The incident in question took place back in May, when he attacked his wife’s alleged lover at the parking zone near the Velana Building in Male’ City.

The man was charged with inflicting bodily harm.

He pled guilty to the charge, testifying at court that in addition to having an affair with his wife, the man also bullied and harassed him.

He was sentenced to one month and 11 days in prison.

Court documents show he has a conviction for attacking the same man back in 2023. The latest incident came a couple of days after he was convicted of the previous case, for which he walked free with a fine of MVR 10,800 under a plea deal.
