UN Special Rapporteur meets with HRCM

United Nations Special Rapporteur Ms Gabriela Knaul, who is currently visiting the Maldives, has met with officials of the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives (HRCM).

HRCM said that the meeting was held last Tuesday, and discussions were held on problems faced by judges, lawyers and other players in the justice system; as well as on ways to strengthen the system.

The meeting was also attended by UN Human Rights Advisor Safir Syed, Amanda Flores representing the UN OHCHR, and officials of UNDP.

Ms Knaul also met with officials of the Judicial Service Commission yesterday.
