It has been revealed that the government has spent MVR 18.9 million on health insurance for former Members of Parliament over the past 10 years.
According to information obtained by Jubraan Shareef under the Right to Information Act, a total of MVR 18,907,000 was expended on health insurance for MPs from 2014 to May 2025.

Former members received MVR 24,000 per month for health insurance.

The trend of members' health insurance costs indicates a year-on-year increase, primarily attributed to the rising number of members across parliamentary terms.
The current 20th parliament comprises 93 members.
