Pres. Muizzu meets Chinese President Xi Jinping

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, on Sunday morning, has met with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

The meeting was held at Tianjin Yingbin Hotel as part of President Muizzu’s ongoing official visit to China to attend Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit at President Xi’s invitation.

During the meeting, President Xi welcomed President Muizzu expressed appreciation for his visit to China. He emphasized the importance of the visit in enhancing the enduring bilateral relationship between the two nations.

President Muizzu expressed his pleasure at making his second official visit to China and extended his gratitude to President Xi for the gracious invitation and warm hospitality.

Discussions during the meeting centered on key areas of bilateral cooperation, including economic development, trade and investment, security collaboration, and efforts to strengthen people-to-people ties.

President Xi reiterated China’s full support for the Maldives in pursuing its national development objectives and underscored the importance of maintaining a results-driven partnership between the two countries.

Both leaders also agreed to further elevate China-Maldives relations under the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership (2024–2028).

The meeting concluded with both Presidents reaffirming their mutual commitment to strengthening cooperation and promoting shared interests.
