Dr. Aishath Shehenaz Adam, Maldives High Commissioner to Pakistan has said that Maldives is a country which imports a majority of its goods and that it offers Pakistani businessmen good opportunities of increase exports by improving with relations with their Maldivian counterparts.
Noting that Maldives is currently facing difficulty in aggregate and river sand, the Ambassador said that construction sector of Maldives was another area in which Pakistan and Maldives could collaborate for mutual benefit.
Dr. Shehnaz’s made these statements during a meeting with Zafar Bakhtawari, President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI).
Pakistan media has reported that Shehenaz talked about how both countries could reap benefits by developing in bilateral relations, especially in the sectors of tourism and fishers.
Mr. Zafar Bakhtawari said that he appreciated the role of Maldivian High Commissioner in strengthening relations between Pakistan and Maldives, and said that he hopes she will continue her work in this regard.
The ICCI President said Pakistan should also take expertise from Maldives for improving its tourism industry as Pakistan is home to a diverse number of tourist attractions which include very beautiful landscapes, ancient civilizations like Indus Valley and Gandhara civilization as well as Buddha sculptures.
On a previous occasion, Dr. Shehenaz has talked about the importance of seeking expertise in the field of medicine from Pakistan, saying that a large number of Maldivian students already study at Pakistani medical colleges and that Pakistani doctors working in the Maldives are gradually increasing.
