Two men accused of forcing a person to transfer the money in a person’s bank account under knife-point attacked arresting police officers on Friday, leaving both the suspects and one officer injured, as the police used force to make the arrest.
The incident took place in Lonuziyaaraiy Magu in the Henveiru district of Male’ City.
The mugging, involving suspects who threatened a person with a knife, forced them inside a building, and made them transfer the MVR 200 in their bank account to them, was reported to the police at 11:57 pm Friday.
Police said that officers who attended to the report were informed that the suspects were hiding inside a house in the area. But the suspects confronted and attacked the police when they attempted to enter the premises.
The police used force to arrest two suspects for assaulting police officers and obstructing the police from performing their duty.

According to police, both suspects as well as one police officer sustained injuries in the incident.
All three were treated at a hospital.
The two suspects arrested in the case were remanded in custody of the police for five days by the Criminal Court on Saturday morning.
The police said they are investigating both the mugging as well as the assault on arresting officers.
