Three expats arrested from Male’ with drugs

Three Bangladeshi nationals were arrested from a house in Male’ City last week, on allegations of peddling drugs.

The trio were arrested on May 22 in a joint operation by Counter-Narcotics Intelligence and Drug Enforcement

They are:

  • MD Salam Mia, 41, Bangladesh
  • Abu Taleb, 47, Bangladesh
  • MD Mehedi Hassan, 29, Bangladesh

The operation was run after the police were tipped off regarding their alleged involvement in the use, possession and peddling of drugs.

The police searched a house in Galolhu district of Male’ and found 350.92 grams of drugs.

The police did not specify the type of drug found in the operation.

All three were presented before the Criminal Court for their remand hearing on May 23, and were remanded in custody of the police for 15 days.

The case is under further investigation by the police.
