Moosa directs heavy criticism at two former Attorney Generals

MDP leadership has heavily criticized two individuals who held the post of Attorney General during the early days of the current regime.

Speaking at a gathering at MDP main hall, the Interim Chairperson of MDP Reeko Moosa Manik said that the former Attorney Generals Husnu Su’ood and Dhiyana Saeed have ‘lost control of their brakes’, and that the former SAARC Secretary General Dhiyana Saeed who resigned yesterday, suddenly arrived in Maldives for the protection of Chief Judge of Criminal Court Abdulla Mohamed because she ‘lost control of her brakes’.

Speaking at the gathering held under the ‘Thiyaheneh nukiyeyne’ campaign, Moosa said that former Attorney Generals Dhiyana Saeed and other lawyers are protecting Judge Abdulla because Judges have previously been threatened to issue biased rulings.

“We have worked together with these people in the special Majlis, government, MDP and SAARC Summit. We are aware of the reasons why they are coming now,” Moosa said.

Moosa further said that MDP is the Party responsible for changing a thirty-year old regime in the country, and that if justice cannot be established in the courts, they will dismiss all the Judges who are currently employed, and replace them with Judges from other countries.

“[…] Justice will be reestablished in this country. I beg of you, do not destroy the entire institution for the sake of Judge Abdulla. We chased away the Egyptian scholar supported by the entire country, entire government, entire population, for thirty years. We are MDP, be wary of us. Even if it comes to dismissing all the Judges in the country and bringing in Judges from other countries, even if we have to bring them in from Sudan, we will make sure that this institution functions. This is a certainty,” he said.
