Pres: Maldives remained independent under a single govt. due to MNDF’s sacrifices

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has credited the sacrifices of those who defended the Maldives’ sovereignty and unity for enabling the nation to remain an independent homeland governed under a single administration.

He made the remark in an address commemorating the 133rd anniversary of the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) which is being observed today.

In his address, the President emphasized that the enduring independence and unity of the Maldives are a direct result of the unwavering dedication shown by those who have safeguarded the nation. He highlighted the MNDF's pivotal role in these efforts, recognizing its consistent work in protecting national security and upholding the country’s sovereignty.

President Muizzu also praised the selflessness of MNDF personnel, noting that they have consistently prioritized the nation and its people over their personal lives and families. He commended their steadfast commitment during times of national crisis, underscoring their crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of the Maldivian people.

Reaffirming his trust in the MNDF, the President expressed confidence that the country's sovereignty and independence will continue to be preserved as long as this spirit of loyalty and service endures. He further voiced his belief that the MNDF will remain resilient in the face of shifting geopolitical landscapes, continuing to fulfill its core mission of protecting the peace, honor, and dignity of the Maldivian state and its citizens.

In a separate congratulatory message posted on his official X account, the President emphasized that the continued independence of the Maldives is the cornerstone of every success and accomplishment achieved by its people. He attributed the preservation of this freedom to the MNDF’s unwavering passion, sacrifice, and determination, acknowledging their vital role in carrying the torch of Maldivian sovereignty forward.
