Fire near Neelan Fihaara under control

The fire at waste area no.1 near Neelan Fihaara (auction shop) has been brought under control by Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF).

Sun reporter at the scene of the incident said that the fire has almost been extinguished, but MNDF Fire and Rescue Team is continuing to spray water at the fire area. The journalist said that even though the fire has been put out, smoke continues to spread in the area.

MNDF Media Officer Abdullah Ali said that it is not yet clear if the fire stated following a deliberate attack, and that efforts are under way to investigate the incident.
