Judge Abdulla Saeed harassed by group on the street

Former Chief Justice and current Judge of Supreme Court Abdulla Saeed was harassed by a group on the street today, while he was on his way home from Friday prayers.

An Official from the judicial sector informed Sun a moment ago that Judge Abdulla Saeed was surrounded by a group on the street, who addressed him using offensive language. Further details regarding this incident, however, were not given.

The Police Media Official said that no report has been received indicating that Judge Abdulla Saeed was harassed, but that they are working on establishing if this incident took place.

Abdulla Saeed was formerly Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. A corruption case involving him has been submitted to the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) by a President’s Office employee.

Chairperson of MDP Reeko Moosa said, in relation to the current issues of Supreme Court and Judges, that the Supreme Court should “immediately” look into the claims that indicate that the government is anti-religious. He has further said that the Supreme Court should rule against such accusations by saying to people, “you can’t say that”.
