Vice President of MDP and Feydhoo MP Alhan Fahmee has said that the case relating to High Court’s cancellation of the notification to summon Chief Judge of Criminal Court Abdulla Mohamed to the Police, will be filed to the Supreme Court.
Speaking at an MDP meeting held under the “Thiyaheneh nukiyeyne” (You can’t say that) campaign, Alhaan said that this case will be filed to the Supreme Court on Sunday.
“I will submit a case on Sunday, requesting a ruling that High Court’s intervention to prevent Judge Abdulla’s presence at the Police office was a violation of the law,” Alhan said.
Alhan called for MDP members to accompany him to the Supreme Court to submit the case.
“I want people to go to Supreme Court with me. We will leave the Supreme Court premises only after they issue a fair ruling regarding this case, even if it means we have to spend the night there,” he said.
Lawyer Alhan further said that the Constitution does not prevent summon of Judges to Police, and that a person being summoned to the Police office does not mean that he is arrested.
“The Constitution does not say that a Judge cannot be summoned to the Police office or Parliament. A person is not arrested unless he is forcefully taken to the Police office, and is told that he is under arrest, and is informed of the same in writing, and until this decision is made within the limits of the law” he said.
