Nearly 600 incidents were reported to the police during the first 10 days of Ramadan, including 153 traffic accidents and 147 thefts.
The police released the crime statistics for the first 10 days of Ramadan – from March 1-10 – on Wednesday.
According to the police, they received reports of 692 incidents and made 148 arrests.
The most reported cases were traffic accidents, followed by thefts and drug-related offenses.

Ramadan usually sees an increase in crimes such as theft – especially during the last 10 days when many people travel overseas or domestically with the government closed. The month also sees an increase in traffic accidents – especially in the evening.
