Foreign Minister leaves for India on official trip

The Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Abdulla Khaleel has left for India on an official trip to participate in the Raisina Dialogue 2025.

The Raisina Dialogue is India’s premier conference on geopolitics and geoeconomics committed to addressing the most addressing issues facing the global community. The conference is hosted by the Observer Research Foundation in partnership with India’s Ministry of External Affairs.

This year’s Raisina Dialogue is scheduled from March 17th to 19th.

Dr. Khaleel is expected to speak at a panel discussion related to the challenges in adapting to climate changes. He is also expected to highlight the vulnerabilities Maldives faces due to climate change, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed.

At the conference’s sideline, Khaleel is expected to meet with Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar. He is also expected to meet with various of his foreign counterparts during the two-day conference.

Minister Khaleel is accompanied by Foreign Ministry’s Directors Ahmed Suzil and Aishath Shahula.

Khaleel, who was appointed as the Minister of Foreign Affairs in September last year, first made his formal visit to India at the beginning of 2025 during which he had met with his Indian counterpart to discuss strengthening cooperation in mutual areas of interest.
