Customs seizes drug shipment worth over MVR 6.7 million

Maldives Customs has intercepted a drug shipment worth over MVR 6.7 million.

According to Customs, the drugs were seized in a special raid conducted at dawn on Thursday to search a sea shipment that arrived the previous night.

The drugs seized in the operation weighed 3.534 kilos and tested positive for three different types of drugs; methamphetamine, ketamine and heroin.

• Methamphetamine: 2,138
• Ketamine: 1,086 grams
• Heroin: 310 grams

The street value of the drugs is estimated to be above MVR 6.7 million.

The drugs have been handed over to the police for criminal investigation.
