Human Rights Commission of the Maldives (HRCM) has met with Chief Judge of Criminal Court Abdulla Mohamed, who is currently held prisoner at K. Girifushi by Security Forces.
The Commission said that they met with Judge Abdulla this morning and checked on his condition, and that the purpose of this meeting is to follow HRCM regulations of the country’s preventive mechanism, and to understand the situations of individuals who are arrested and denied their right to freedom.
The Commission said that Judge Abdulla is in good health, no violence had been used against him, and that his basic needs are attended to.
HRCM further said that no complaints have been received which indicate the use of violence or abuse by the Police towards the arrested Judge.
