The bench of judges presiding over the Nasheed’s case has decided not to grant his request for an extension of his travel period.

An official from the judiciary media unit said that the decision was made by the judges sometime this afternoon.

While Nasheed's hearing is scheduled for 16:00 this evening, he has still not returned from his travel.

Nasheed’s legal team has said that a request to delay the trials, reasoning that Nasheed is unable to attend today’s hearing, was submitted via letter to the Hulhumale’ Court last Thursday. The judges have however not yet made a decision on the request.
