Former President Nasheed has requested for an extension for his travel leave granted by Hulhumale’ court.
An official from the judiciary media unit said today that former president Nasheed submitted a letter to Hulhumale’ Court last Thursday requesting for an extension of his leave period from 5pm this evening until the 28th of this month.
The official said that Nasheed has been informed that the judge’s bench has decided to make a decision on his leave extension request after the conclusion of the hearing scheduled to be held this evening.
“Nasheed’s hearing will start at 5pm today. A time it will end can only be said after it has started. Because the judges were not sure if the hearing will be over by 5, they decided to make a decision on the matter after the hearing has ended. President Nasheed has also been notified of this decision,” the media unit official said.
Nasheed is still abroad while his hearing is scheduled to start at 4pm today.
