Five people arrested from boat with possession of large number of alcohol bottles

Five people have been arrested with the possession of a large number of alcohol bottles aboard a supply boat anchored in the Vilimale’ North Harbour.

Police said that responding to an intelligence report at 5:35 yesterday evening, they discovered a large number of alcohol bottles hidden on a boat named “Reboo-14”. They said that they found 108 bottles in the boat’s wheelhouse, which included 96 bottles Smirnoff along with 12 bottles of Jameson. They said that some of the bottles were in their original packaging and that they were hidden inside carrying bags.

The five Maldivians were arrested aboard the boat at the time when the bottles were discovered.

The people’s ages include people of ages 19, 21, 23, 30 and 56.
