First person who fell overboard found, search for a second person ongoing

Search for a second person has begun after as the first person who fell overboard from a yacht anchored between Male’ and Vilimale’ was found adrift.

Police Media Official Hassan Haneef said that there were 2 German tourists onboard the yacht which was anchored between Male’ and Hulhumale and that around 12:45, one of the tourists was reported missing, thought to be overboard. He said that the person was found adrift moments later, and is not being treated in Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).

He also said that they are now searching for the other person who was onboard the yacht.

“The person taken to IGMH was one of the people who fell overboard from the yacht. There was a man and a woman onboard. The person was not dead when he reached IGMH,” official said.

Sun has come to know that search for a second person began after she jumped into the sea in search for man who fell overboard.

MNDF Media Officer said that following information received from the police, they are currently working at the scene.
