The new British high commissioner Nick Low has presented his letter of credence to Maldivian president Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
Low presented his credentials in a ceremony held at the President's Office in Male’ on Tuesday morning.
He was escorted to there from the Republic Square on Tuesday morning in a cultural procession called the ‘haiykolhu’ with the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF)’s drum and trumpet band.
President Muizzu accepted his letter of credence and congratulated him on his new appointment.
Following the presentation of credentials, President Muizzu and Low engaged in discussions on enhancing bilateral relations and other mutual interests, including advancing cooperation in higher education and tourism.
They also discussed efforts to mitigate the impacts of climate change.
Low, who replaced Caron Röhsler as Britian’s top envoy in the Maldives, most recently served as Counsellor at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) within the India and Indian Ocean Directorate
Maldives and the the United Kingdom established official diplomatic ties on July 26, 1965.
