27-year-old arrested in hit-and-run that injured elderly pedestrian

The police have arrested the suspect in a hit-and-run in Hulhumale’ on Tuesday that left an elderly pedestrian injured.

The accident took place outside the Care Plus outlet in the Nirolhu Magu of Hulhumale’, and involved a motorcyclist who fled after crashing his vehicle into a 63-year-old man who was walking down the street.

The elderly pedestrian sustained injuries in the accident and was treated at a hospital.

Looth Ibrahim, 27, Furusathu, GDh. Vaadhoo, was arrested in connection to the case the same day.

According to the police, Looth had left his motorcycle and fled the scene following the accident.

He was presented before the court for his remand hearing on Wednesday. The court remanded him in custody of the police for seven days.

The accident is under further investigation by the police.
